Math exam
The American High School Math
Exam has been given for several years to freshmen through seniors who are
enrolled in advanced math classes at Bishop Garrigan. The test takes place
in February, and we like to honor our top students at the Academic
Banquet. This year, 54 Bishop
Garrigan students took the AMC12, which consists of 25 challenging multiple
choice questions which are to be answered in 75 minutes.
Mike Fakler had the highest
freshman score with 70.5 points. Alex Hamilton was second and Rebecca
Molsberry third. Rebeccah Erdman also scored 70.5 points to lead the
sophomore class. Brittany Berte and Nick Kellner tied for second. Among the
seniors, AJ Doughan and Jake Grein tied for first with 73.5 points,
followed by Kent Recker in third place.
The juniors were led by Chris
Kellner, who had 78.0 points, the highest score in the school. The second
highest school scores also came from the juniors, with three students
tying: Alec Boeckholt, Ben Hellman and Randy Kenyon all had 76.5 points.
The scores of the top three students are used to determine the school
score, which is 731 for 2008. The 11 highest scores overall are represented
among these 13 students.
