Quiz bowl news

On Thursday, March 20, ten Garrigan players participated in the Golden Bear Trivia Challenge Think-a-Thon, a fundraiser to help with expenses for the team’s trip to nationals this summer. On April 19, two Garrigan teams competed in the NAMQ quiz bowl championships at Iowa State University. In a field dominated by 4-A schools, both Golden Bear teams finished in the middle of the pack with 4-4 records after the preliminary rounds. Garrigan was the only small school to make that good a showing. Their wins included victories over Bettendorf and Davenport Central. Ethan Dahlhauser was the #10 overall player in the tournament, Anna Kollasch (#18) was one of only two girls among the top 20 players and Vince Cruise also finished in the top third of all players. Other players competing included Mark Poeppe, Shane Koob, Brittany Berte, Brent Kajewski, Jake Rosenmeyer and Jacob Zittritsch.
On April 23, the team participated in the spring Knowledge Master, a nationwide competition held via computer.

Text Box: Message from the Administrators

Of all the months of the year, May has to be one of the most beautiful. It comes in with promising buds and greening lawns, such a welcome sight after we have braved yet another Iowa winter!
It also marks the end of another school year, the moving on of another graduating class. Our hopes and prayers go with our seniors. They will always be in our hearts — after all, they are part of our Bishop Garrigan family, and family members are never forgotten.
We pray they go with God!
