In addition to classes, most high school events including basketball, volleyball, football, softball, baseball, intramurals, music contests and concerts, plays, speech contests, and quiz bowl tournaments are held on the school grounds.
From the north, south, or west:
Drive to the intersection of U.S. highways 169 and 18 at the K-Mart plaza at the north end of Algona.
Drive east on highway 18 for about 1 mile, just past the railroad tracks.
Turn south (right) on McCoy Street. (a Fareway supermarket, Sarah's restaurant, and the Eastland Hills shopping center are at the corner.)
Go south two blocks to the front entrance or four blocks to the parking lot at McCoy and Poplar Streets.
From the east:
Drive west on U.S. highway 18 just into the city of Algona. (The highway will become four lanes, and you will pass the large Snap-On Tools factory and a cemetery on your left. At that point, you should be able to see the lights of the school athletic complex.)
Turn south (left) on McCoy Street. (a Fareway supermarket, Sarah's restaurant, and the Eastland Hills shopping center are at the corner.)
Go south two blocks to the front entrance or four blocks to the parking lot at McCoy and Poplar Streets.
High school parent/teacher conferences, as well as most middle school and grade school events are held at Seton Grade School or the adjacent Rochleau Center.
Seton Grade School is located next to St. Cecelia's Church in central Algona.
Follow U.S. highway 169 into downtown Algona. Go to the corner of State and Phillips Streets (at Pizza Hut and Central Park).
Go north on Phillips Street (past Pizza Hut) for two blocks. You will pass the Algona Public Library on your right and a playground on your left.
Turn west (left) on North Street. Parking for Seton and St. Cecelia's is just west of the corner of North and Phillips.
High school track meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at the Algona High School track.
Algona High School is located at the south end of Algona.
From Bishop Garrigan, drive east on Poplar Street to Finn Drive. Turn right, and follow Finn Drive south to McGregor Road. Take McGregor west to Sample Street. Turn left on Sample, and drive 2 blocks south to AHS.
From out of town, follow US 169 to its intersection with McGregor Road, the southernmost stop light in Algona. Turn east on McGregor, cross the railroad tracks, and turn south on Sample. Drive 2 blocks south to AHS.
High school cross-country meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at the Whittemore Golf Club.
The Whittemore Golf Club is located about a mile east of the town of Whittemore and about 10 miles west of Algona.
From Algona, follow McGregor Road (also called 210th Street and County Road B-40) west for about 10 miles. The golf course will be on the north side of the road, just before you reach Whittemore. Parking for meets is along McGregor Road.
From out of town follow US 18 west to its intersection with highway 15 north and County Road P-16. Turn south on P-16 (also called 20th Ave.), and drive 1 mile south to County Road B-40. Turn right and follow B-40 about a 1.5 miles. The golf course will be on the left, with parking along B-40.
Some high school golf meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at River Road Golf Course.
River Road Golf Course is located northeast of Algona.
From Algona, follow US 169 north past the intersection with US 18 to River Road, which is near the Algona center of Iowa Lakes Community College. Turn right on River Road and travel about a mile. The golf course is on the left.
Some high school golf meets hosted by Bishop Garrigan are held at Spring Valley Golf Course.
Spring Valey Golf Course is located east of the village of St. Joe, which is south of Algona on US 169.
From Algona, follow US 169 south past St. Joe to the Kossuth/Humboldt county line. Take the county line road east about 2 miles. Turn left on 140th Ave., and drive north for about a mile and a half to the golf course.
Occasionally some BGHS events are held at the Algona KC Hall.
The KC Hall is located on north Main Street, just south of US highway 18 and just a few blocks west of BGHS.
From BGHS, follow Poplar Street west to Main Street (at Motor Inn Auto Center). Turn right on Main Street and drive about 1 block. The KC Hall will be on the left.
